Motion North 05.02.2025

Learned lots about the freelance animation landscape, how to get work, advertise yourself and how most freelancers work. Was also made aware of She Drew That (a community of women in animation, focused on the promotion, support and development of women in the animation industry, founded by Hannah Lau Walker).

National Film and Television School Event and Workshop

Learned about Master’s degree opportunities at NFTS and how to go about applying if I so wish, as well as about their scholarships. Watched two films by two former students, talked to the creator of the animated film about the making of it. Learned about the replacement versions of characters needed when filming a stop motion animated film.

Plans for future learning

Plan to do LinkedIn and Screenskills courses about 2D rigging in Toon Boom Harmony, as well as poly modeling  and 3D rigging in Maya

Plan to keep up a habit of doing 10 minutes of sketchbook work per day

Will attend at least two film festivals in the next two years, as well as multiple other networking events such as Animates and Motion North.

Going to apply for work experience at Kilogramme animation studios for one summer in the next two years.
